Book review: Jane Doe

The Book Blurb

Jane Doe by Victoria Helen Stone, Alina Yates Book Review

A double life with a single purpose: revenge.

Jane’s days at the Midwest insurance company are perfectly ordinary. She blends in well, unremarkably pretty in her floral-print dresses and extra efficient at her low-level job. She’s just the kind of woman middle manager Steven Hepsworth likes – meek, insecure, and willing to defer to a man. No one has any idea who Jane really is. Least of all Steven.

But plain Jane is hiding something. And Steven’s bringing out the worst in her.

Nothing can distract Jane from going straight for his heart: allowing herself to be seduced into Steven’s bed, to insinuate herself into his career and his family, and to expose all his dirty secrets. It’s time for Jane to dig out everything that matters to Steven. So she can take it all away.

Just as he did to her.

My Review

Victoria Helen Stone’s Jane Doe drew me in from the first chapter. Jane is unforgiving, crafty, clever, and on a mission. Her intentions are very clear – she wants revenge for the death of her friend.

“A fresh look on revenge and a diabolical plot of suspense that holds it’s intrigue.” – Alina Yates

Jane is a dark, disturbing, self-diagnosed sociopath that is unapologetic. She is on a mission to destroy one man, Steven Hepsworth. Steven preys on weak, insecure women so he can feel more of a man, but Jane plans to break his momentum and destroy the man and all that he holds dear.

Steven destroyed the closest thing Jane had to feeling alive and she is fixated on making him feel her pain…or whatever this “feeling” is that she is feeling. Meg made Jane feel normal and less of a person who lack emotions.

In Jane’s complex mind, everything is simple. She thinks everyone should be allowed to say what they think and feel without regard to hurting someone’s feelings. She is not broken and fragile but that is just what Jane wants Steven to believe. Jane allowed Steven to degrade her and at times make him feel she was less of a woman – all in a delicious plot to expose the hypocritic so-called God-fearing man whom Jane believes took her friends life.

With a sarcastic sense of humor, a fresh entertaining plot, and a captivating character, Jane Doe is the epidemy of sweet revenge. Complex and beautiful – surprising and fun, Jane is a character that you’ll remember. Amazing!
